Empiang Jabu honoured for pioneering advocacy in women’s rights, rural welfare

KUCHING, Sept 27: Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Empiang Jabu was honored for her pioneering work in advocating women’s rights and social welfare, especially in rural areas, during the Life Begins at 50 Seniors Festival held at Tropicana Gardens Mall, Selangor, on Friday (Sept 27).

According to a report from the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas), Tan Sri Empiang, wife of former Sarawak Deputy Chief Minister, has dedicated her life to uplifting the underprivileged, with a strong focus on improving the lives of rural communities.

In addition to Tan Sri Empiang, four other distinguished seniors were recognized for their lifetime achievements and societal contributions at the festival’s launch.

These honorees included celebrated actor, screenwriter, and sports commentator Dato’ Abdul Rahim Mohd Razali (Rahim Razali), former national athlete and coach Datuk Marina Chin, renowned philanthropist and Chairperson of Make-A-Wish Malaysia Datin Linda Ngiam, and Ramlah Md Jalee, a dedicated educator born with a congenital lower limb deficiency.

The festival, which featured various events such as the Talent Quest Finals and the Walk-A-Breakfast-thon, culminated in the prestigious Timeless Inspiration Awards ceremony. — DayakDaily
