SERIAN, March 13: An elderly woman is believed to have died in a hit-and-run at KM80 of Jalan Kuching-Sri Aman today.
Serian district police chief DSP Aswandy Anis said the 67-year-old victim was from Kampung Antayan Keropok, Serian.
“The victim during the incident was believed to have been hit by a vehicle while crossing the road from the left side of the road towards Sri Aman.
“As a result of the impact, the victim suffered serious head and body injuries and was confirmed dead at the scene,” he said in a statement today.
The victim’s body was then taken to Serian Hospital for an autopsy.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
Police appealed to the public with information about the incident to come forward to help with the investigation.
