SIBU, Feb 6: Eight households in Lorong Rantau Panjang Jaya 7, Teku, were relocated to a temporary evacuation centre (PPS) at Kampung Bahagia Jaya Community Hall on Wednesday (Feb 5) night due to the risks posed by a landslide.
Deputy Minister of Education and Innovation Datuk Dr Annuar Rapaee explained that the evacuation was prompted by a landslide that occurred in the area on Tuesday night.
“For safety reasons and due to ongoing ground movement, the authorities decided to evacuate the residents of these eight homes tonight,” he said in a social media post.

He also visited the displaced residents at the PPS later that evening.
“It is advised that homeowners and their families refrain from returning to their homes until both the structures and surrounding land are stabilised and officially confirmed safe by the authorities,” he added.
The landslide had partially collapsed a 220-foot stretch of road, with a width and height of 10 feet, located in front of the row of houses. — DayakDaily
