“For safety reasons and due to ongoing ground movement, the authorities decided to evacuate the residents of these eight homes tonight,” he said in a social media post.

The road in front of a row of houses in Lorong Rantau Panjang Jaya 7, Sibu collapsed following a landslide on Feb 4, 2025.

He also visited the displaced residents at the PPS later that evening.

“It is advised that homeowners and their families refrain from returning to their homes until both the structures and surrounding land are stabilised and officially confirmed safe by the authorities,” he added.

The landslide had partially collapsed a 220-foot stretch of road, with a width and height of 10 feet, located in front of the row of houses. — DayakDaily
