KUCHING, Feb 16: The proposed road from Marudi to Long Terawan through Marudi Bridge and then bypassing the Mulu range to Limbang and Lawas is part of the Sarawak government’s initiative to build an Eco-Tourism Corridor.

Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said when the proposed roads are completed, Gunung Buda National Park and Mulu would be connected.

At the same time, Mulu would be connected by road to Sarawak’s Northern Coastal Highway, leading straight to Brunei.

“That will be what we call the Eco-Tourism Corridor.Ā It will eventually become the Eco-Tourism Corridor that will benefit the local economy. I think the (expected) time taken could be seven to eight years, but we must start somewhere.

“So, our government is having this initiative and eventually, the whole of Sarawak will be covered by our policy under PCDS (Post Covid-19 Strategy Development) up to the year 2030,” he said.

Abang Johari was addressing the press after visiting the Miri Port Authority in Kuala Baram today.

Among those present were Deputy Premiers Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas and Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan. ā€” DayakDaily
