KUCHING, Dec 17: The Election Commission (EC) today has reminded all political parties contesting in the 12th Sarawak Election that the official campaign period will end tonight at 11.59pm (Dec 17).
According to EC secretariat Dato Indera Ikmalrudin Ishak in a statement today, all parties must stop any form of campaigning activities, including voting activities, after the period ends.
“All parties are not allowed to appeal for votes, including outside the polling centres.
“This includes through social media channels such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and others,” he said.
He also reminded that all parties or candidates contesting are prohibited from opening, building or maintaining ‘barung’ (political billboard or display) during polling day.
“Any party who commits this offense will be prosecuted,” he said. — DayakDaily
