EC: final voter turnout for Sarawak’s 12th Election was 60.67 pct

KUCHING, Dec 19: The Election Commission (EC) revealed that final voter turnout for Sarawak’s 12th election yesterday was 60.67 per cent.

EC chairman Datuk Abdul Ghani Salleh in a press statement said the total included ordinary voters, early voters and postal voters.

The number of people who voted was 759,627 out of the total number of registered voters at 1,252,014.

Meanwhile, Abdul Ghani added that the two ballot boxes belonging to N78 Mulu constituency which were stranded at its polling station finally reached the official counting centre (PPRU) this morning.

“The ballot boxes were safely received today. After the counting process, Mulu seat was won by Dato Gerawat Gala from Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) after securing 3,731 votes and a majority of 2,875,” he said.

With this, Gerawat successfully defended his seat to become a second-term assemblyman.

Son Tadu of Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) garnered 856 votes and Roland Engan of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) received 810 votes.

Richard Ibuh of Parti Bumi Kenyalang (PBK) lost his deposit after getting only 199 votes. — DayakDaily
