MIRI, April 16: The driver of a luxury car that was involved in a single-crash incident at KM22 Miri Coastal road on Wednesday (April 13) morning has died today, 11 years after he was acquitted for causing the death of another girl, then 17-year-old Tiffany Wong.

According to Miri Police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu, the 29-year-old man identified as Lee Kim Seng, died this morning at 4.46am.

The accident was reported at around 9.45am on April 13 at KM22, Miri Coastal Road, and a 31-year-old female passenger, a Chinese national identified as Lan Gui Mei had died on the spot, while Lee was rushed to Miri Hospital for his injuries.

Prior to the incident, it was reported that they were heading towards the city centre from Batu Niah.

The car driven by Lee was reported to have skidded while navigating a sharp bend upon reaching the area and overturned on the left of the road shoulder.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

11 years ago, Lee who was then aged 17, was detained for causing the death of Tiffany Wong (aged 17 at the time she died) but was acquitted from the charge because of his aged at that time (he was also 17 and a minor).

Wong’s body was found lying inside a drain at Kampung Beraya Lama on March 24, 2011.

Wong, a student of St Joseph Secondary School Miri, was reported missing by her family , a day after the Sijil Peperiksaan Malaysia (SPM) results were announced.

It was reported that the recent accident crash scene was adjacent to the site where Wong’s body was recovered, some 11 years ago. — DayakDaily
