KUCHING, March 4: There will not be any more lockdowns in Sarawak, says Deputy Premier Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian.

He said this is in line with Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin’s statement that extended lockdowns and border controls are no longer viable in the third year of the Covid-19 pandemic.

On opening the national border, Dr Sim said it would be announced by Prime Minister Dato Sri Ismail Sabri Yakoob soon.

Vaccines, vigilance, and community empowerment instead are the crucial factors in managing coronavirus outbreaks and transitioning into the endemic phase.

In his social media post yesterday (March 3), Dr Sim also pointed out that the fully vaccinated status of individuals yet to receive their boosters by April 1 will be changed to not complete.

He warned that this is not an April’s Fool joke, thus urging those not boosted to arrange for their third jabs quickly.
