Dr Ooi Choo Huck with 30-year service in Sarawak is new State Health Department director

KUCHING, March 13: Having served Sarawak for the last 30 years, Public Health specialist Dr Ooi Choo Huck is the new Sarawak Health Department (JKNS) director.

He was appointed to the post on March 1, and the handover of duties ceremony was held on Friday (March 11).


Dr Ooi took up the baton from Datuk Dr Mohamed Sapian Mohamed, who was appointed to the director post on June 14, 2021, replacing the retired Dr Chin Zin Hing.

Meanwhile, Deputy Premier Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian posted a congratulatory message to Dr Ooi on social media.

“Heartiest congratulations to Dr Ooi Choo Huck as the new Medical Director (Jusa B) for Sarawak Health Department. (He is) an experienced Public Health specialist who has been serving in Sarawak for the last 30 years.

“Looking forward to further strengthening the good collaboration and cooperation of the Sarawak government with JKNS and KKM (Ministry of Health). Let’s do it together as Sarawak has a lot of catching up to do,” he said. — DayakDaily
