KUCHING, June 9: Dr Jerip Susil’s Health Clinic at Kota Padawan will become a Covid-19 vaccination centre.

Dr Jerip said allowing private health clinics to transform into vaccination centre was approved by the government yesterday.

“My health clinic (at Kota Padawan) will become a Covid-19 vaccination centre and we are doing the necessary preparations strictly based on the standard operating procedures (SOP).

“The preparations include briefing the staff and readying the facilities, and most importantly to ensure that the vaccines can be stored safely,” Dr Jerip, who is also Assistant Minister of Transport, said today.

Dr Jerip had flagged off the distribution of food parcels programme for Mambong constituency at Padawan sub-district office at Bayur, Jalan Borneo Heights.

He added that only 30 persons would be allowed per day, but he would be requesting for 50 persons to be inoculated per day.

He further said that once ready he would have an outreach programme for villages, adding that he would be conducting the vaccination himself.

“I will be doing the vaccination myself and it is free of charge. I am doing it voluntarily,” Dr Jerip, who is a medical doctor.

The Mambong assemblyman also said that an additional two health clinics, one in Bayur and one in Siburan, will become Covid-19 vaccination centres.

On the food parcel programme, he said 10, 070 packets would be distributed to the recipients at 83 villages and housing estates in Padawan (5,123) and Siburan (4,947).

He urged the village chiefs in the area to submit the names of those who may be left out as soon as possible.

Present at the event was Sarawak Administrative Officer (SAO) frim Padawan sub-district office Julius Scott Sapong and several community leaders. — DayakDaily
