Dr Jerip: Health screening offered at govt clinics, Perkeso, Peka B40, National Population and Development Board

SERIAN, Aug 26:  One out of five Malaysians suffer from diabetes, three out of 10 struggle with hypertension, while four out of 10 are experiencing high cholesterol issue in the country.

This had caused Deputy Minister of Transport I Datuk Dr Jerip Susil to remind Sarawakians to take their health seriously by going for regular medical checkup to ensure a healthy life at the ageing stage.
“As we move towards as an ageing society by the year 2030, we need to have a regular medical checkup as an investment for the later stage of our life,” Dr Jerip pointed out today.
He said this when officiating at the opening of Siburan district level ‘Agenda Nasional Malaysia Sihat (ANMS) at Siburan hall, here.
According to Dr Jerip, who is Mambong assemblyman, Malaysians aged 60 years will increase by 15 per cent by 2030 which will make the country an ageing society by then.
Dr Jerip strongly encouraged those aged 40 and above to go for health screening to know their health status.
The checkups, he said can be done at the government health clinics, Perkeso, Peka B40 and National Population and Development Board.
He added that such facilities are provided by the government to ensure a healthy population.
“Government departments, non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and the public ought to support such initiative by the government for a healthy population,” Dr Jerip said.
Present at the event, among others were Acting Siburan district officer Ranum Bari and Dr Sharifah Norashikin Wan Ahmad, representing Serian medical officer. — DayakDaily
