DoE Sarawak targets 100 pct palm oil mill compliance with Environmental Quality Act 1974

KUCHING, July 21: The Department of Environment (DoE) Sarawak hopes to achieve 100 per cent palm oil mill compliance with the Environmental Quality Act 1974 involving water and air pollution.

To achieve the target, DoE Sarawak today has organised a Palm Oil Mills (KKS) Compliance with the Environmental Quality Act 1974 seminar presenting four paperworks together with the latest and relevant information for industry players in the State.


Among the paperwork presented involves the status and direction of palm oil mill compliance with the Environmental Quality Act 1974 by DoE, and Performance monitoring (PM) practices for Oil Palm Mill effluent treatment system by Environmental Information Management and Advisory System (EIMAS).

It also includes the introduction to an integrated Zero Waste Management in support of a sustainable environment in Palm Oil Industry by Malaysia Palm Oil Board (MPOB) and “MyHero’ Palm Oil Mill Effluent Tertiary Treatment by Alam Sekitar Malaysia Sdn. Bhd (ASMA).

The seminar, which is organised in conjunction with State Level World Environmental Day 2022 celebration, was officiated by Department of Environment (DoE) Sarawak director Hamzah Mohamad.

A total of 206 individuals comprising oil palm players throughout Sarawak participated. — DayakDaily
