Doctor accused of molesting patient in Kuching arrested

KUCHING, Dec 30: A 28-year-old doctor has been arrested after he was accused of molesting his patient at a medical centre here yesterday.

Acting Kuching district police chief Supt Merbin Lisa said the suspect was reported to have committed the act while carrying out the examination procedure on a 34-year-old woman in a treatment room at around 11.30am.

“Following the report, the police arrested the suspect, who is a medical officer at the institution, to help with the investigation.


“An investigation paper has been opened, and the case is being investigated under Section 354 of the Penal Code,” he said in a statement today.

If found guilty, the suspect can be imprisoned for a period of up to 10 years or with a fine or with whipping or with any two of these punishments.

The police further advised the general public not to make any speculations about the incident or statements that are not related to this issue to give the police room to carry out further investigations.
