Dirty food outlet in Bintulu ordered shut for 14 days over health violations

BINTULU, June 5: A food premises here was ordered to close for 14 days effective May 30 for violating Section 23(1) of the Public Health Protection Ordinance 1999.

In a TVS news report, the Bintulu Development Authority (BDA) said the enforcement action was led by an Assistant Environmental Health Officer, assisted by three officers from the Food Safety and Hygiene Control Unit.

“The closure is to allow for a thorough cleaning of the premises.

“BDA will not compromise with premises owners or food handlers who fail to comply with established regulations,” the statement read.

It further stressed that all food handlers are required to maintain the cleanliness of their premises and ensure that the food prepared is clean, safe, and does not pose a risk to public health.

“Public health and safety are our top priorities. BDA will continue regular monitoring and enforcement efforts to safeguard the well-being of the Bintulu community,” the statement added. — DayakDaily
