BETONG, June 5: Several main roads in the old market and around Betong town will be closed for two days, from June 6 to 7, in conjunction with the Betong Division-level Gawai Dayak Parade 2025.

In a TVS news report, Betong District Police chief DSP Zamry Alli said the closures are necessary to ensure the smooth execution of the event, which is scheduled to take place this Saturday (June 7).

“The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) Betong District Headquarters, specifically the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department, will implement full road closures—particularly in the old market area and several key roads in town.

“This measure is crucial to ensure that both the rehearsal and the actual parade day proceed without disruptions,” he said in a statement today.

Among the affected roads are the stretch in front of Rumah Rehat Betong, Jalan Pengarah Isek, and the traffic light junction at Simpang Empat.

Motorists are advised to use alternative routes such as Jalan Bebangai, Jalan Spine, Jalan Tanjong Assam, Jalan Sie Kwang Ngak, and Jalan Kampung Hilir Betong.

“The road closures are also aimed at ensuring public safety and facilitating effective traffic control and coordination,” he added.

The police are urging all road users to comply with traffic regulations and follow instructions from enforcement personnel on duty during the event.

The public is also encouraged to plan their journeys in advance to avoid congestion in the affected areas and to minimise inconvenience. — DayakDaily
