KUCHING, Sept 12: “Dia masih bujang (He is still single),” teases the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah of his son, the Regent of Pahang Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah. Could it be possible that Agong is searching for a potential daughter-in-law from Sarawak?
The playful remark made by the Agong towards his son during their visit to Kampung Pengkalan Lutong, Miri on Saturday (Sept 9) as part of the ‘Kembara Kenali Borneo’ royal tour has gained significant attention and has sparked excitement among girls from Sarawak.
In a TikTok video posted by @umpsamalaysia, it appears that King Al-Sultan Abdullah was present at the village alongside Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim and Tengku Panglima Raja Kol Tengku Amir Nasser Ibrahim Shah.

In the video, His Majesty abruptly signalled for everyone to be silent as he had an announcement to make.
The calm atmosphere quickly turned into excitement as the crowd erupted in cheers following His Majesty’s announcement that Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim is still single while Tengku Amir Nasser Ibrahim is married. His Majesty also mentioned that he is already married, adding to the lightheartedness of the situation.
The announcement made Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim blush, and he shyly grinned at the public.
Numerous internet users expressed their surprise, noting that they were not anticipating the Agong to possess such a playful and teasing demeanour.
Meanwhile, in another TikTok video posted by @tengkuhassanal6, Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim can be seen promoting his brother, Tengku Ahmad Ismail Mu’adzam Shah.
In the video, Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim can be seen standing out of the car’s sunroof with a small microphone, pointing at Tengku Ahmad Ismail, who is sitting in the front passenger seat, and saying, “Ambil gambar dengan adik saya ni, ni Tengku Ahmad, awak selfie dengan dia, Tengku Ahmad single dia ni. (Take a photo with my brother, this is Tengku Ahmad, you selfie with him, Tengku Ahmad is single).”
Many netizens left amusing comments on the TikTok video, one of which read, “Tuuu dia, promote adik macam sale baju (That’s him, promote his brother like selling clothes).”
The ‘Kembara Kenali Borneo’ royal tour started in Tawau, Sabah, on Sept 3 and will end in Telok Melano, Sarawak on Sept 13, covering 2,154km via the Pan-Borneo Highway.
