Man found dead after falling into Sungai Tatau

TATAU, Sept 12: A man reported to have fallen into the Sungai Tatau River here last Sunday (Sept 10) was found dead this evening.

According to a report by the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), the body of the 36-year-old was found floating by an angler at 4.40pm today near Batang Tatau Bridge, about 2km from the location of the incident.

“At 5.20pm, the Bomba team took the body, which was located under the bridge and handed it over to the police for further action,” it said.

The victim was identified as Iharani Kassim.

On Sept 10, it was reported that the victim had fallen into the river around 11pm.

The victim’s brother-in-law witnessed the incident who then conducted an initial search for the victim.

A search and rescue (SAR) operation was activated after they lodged a police report on the incident. — DayakDaily
