Deputy Premier: Maa’had Tahfiz Lawas building expected to be completed by mid-December 2024

KUCHING, Feb 7: The construction of the Maa’had Tahfiz building in Lawas is anticipated to be finished by mid-December 2024.

As per a news report from the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas), Deputy Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, said the building is currently at 83 per cent completion.

“Now the progress has reached 83 per cent and is expected to be completed in December this year,” he said during a visit to the Maa’had Tahfiz Lawas project site on Monday (Feb 5).

The news outlet further reported that Awang Tengah, who is also Bukit Sari assemblyman, mentioned that the new building would be equipped with various facilities for religious education and other technical classes.

“It will provide many facilities for religious education classes. Secondly, for technical classes, which I think are important, and we will determine the curriculum later,” he was quoted as saying.

Furthermore, Ukas noted that during the visit, the Deputy Premier took the time to inspect the building’s structure and received a briefing from the construction contractor.

Awang Tengah expressed satisfaction with the construction progress and hoped it would be completed according to the established schedule.

The project is under the Regional Corridor Development Authority (Recoda) with a total cost of RM2,939,738.

Present at the event were Lawas MP Datuk Henry Sum Agong, Limbang Resident Unus Tambi, Lawas District officer Ladin Atok, and the director of the Northern Region Development Agency (NRDA), Datuk Ubaidillah Abdul Latip. — DayakDaily
