KUCHING, Feb 4: Hemodialysis centres will be set up in Beladin and Kabong this year, says Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas.
Uggah, who is Betong Division Development Agency (BDDA) chairman said the matter had been decided in a recent BDDA’s meeting.
āEach centre costs RM5 million and the agency will pay for the construction including providing the necessary equipment or machines. We will also enhance the existing one in Debak.
āWhen all these centres are operating, it will reduce the crowd in Betong Hospital and Debak Hemodialysis Centre,ā he said, according to a statement released to the media.
Uggah told this to reporters after officiating at an education motivational talk for parents and members of Parent-Teacher Associations from seven primary schools in Debak yesterday (Feb 3).
Meanwhile earlier at the function, Uggah called on parents to do their parts in ensuring their children get the best education.
He said it is vital for them to know how best they could supplement teachers’ efforts in educating their children.
He also reminds them with the Sarawak government now venturing into a number of new, smart and high technology industries, it would need more technologists, engineers and other professionals.
āWhat I am saying here is for more of our children to be encouraged to go for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics or STEM subjects.
āAt the same time, they must cultivate the reading habit to add to their knowledge and keeping abreast with new developments in the world today,ā he added.
At the function, Uggah, accompanied by political secretary to the Sarawak Premier Riseline Mapong, presented computer units to seven primary schools. ā DayakDaily
