CHINA, Dec 9: Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan led a delegation to visit the Suzhou Industrial Park (SIP) in Suzhou yesterday (Dec 8), as part of efforts to enhance Sarawak’s industrial park management and sustainability.

According to a report by Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS), the delegation included Sarawak Deputy Minister for International Trade, Industry, and Investment (MINTRED), Datuk Dr Malcolm Mussen Lamoh; MINTRED advisor Dato Sri Mohd Naroden Majais; MINTRED permanent secretary Dzulkornain Masron; Regional Corridor Development Authority (RECODA) chief executive officer (CEO) Datuk Ismawi Ismuni; and InvestSarawak CEO Timothy Ong.

Jointly developed by the Chinese and Singaporean governments, the SIP spans 278 square kilometres and has a population of approximately 1.19 million, including 807,800 permanent residents.

The park features a well-structured industrial layout, focusing on two core industries—new-generation information technology and high-end equipment manufacturing—alongside three emerging sectors: biomedicine, nanotechnology applications, and artificial intelligence. It is further supported by a robust modern service sector to bolster these industries.

This visit aligns with Sarawak’s ongoing efforts to enhance industrial park operations through the newly formed Industrial Park Management Committee (IPMC), established to oversee and improve industrial park conditions for long-term sustainability.

The IPMC has already been introduced at the Sama Jaya Free Industrial Zone and Demak Laut Industrial Park in Kuching, marking the initial phase of the initiative.

The delegation’s visit underscores Sarawak’s commitment to leveraging global best practices for the development of its industrial infrastructure. — DayakDaily
