KUCHING, Sept 24: Deputy Minister of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Dr Ripin Lamat is urging Sarawakian youth not just to become job seekers but also to become job creators.

Dr Ripin said in pursuing that, youth in Sarawak should try to get involved in entrepreneurship.

“Our hope is for the youth, especially in Sarawak, to become entrepreneurs regardless of the field chosen.

“YouTubers, influencers, and food reviewers are also one of the fields of entrepreneurship, as long as it can generate income,” he said during the Kuching Division National Youth Day 2022 held at Stadium Perpaduan in Petra Jaya today.

On another note, Dr Ripin said, according to a study, youth nowadays lack involvement with community programmes in their local areas.

He said this is most likely caused by the current lifestyle factors heavily influenced by technology.

“There is no denying that, although the life scenario is changing daily, technology is very much needed in business, education, and the fastest source of information.

“As such, the youth, including those in the private and public higher learning institutions, must take the initiative to be actively involved in community programs at every level to help improve the local community as well as themselves too,” he added. — DayakDaily
