Rabies in Borneo Conference 2022 to take place in Kuching from Sept 27-28

Rabies in Borneo Conference 2022 will be held on Sept 27 and 28.

KUCHING, Sept 24: The Department of Veterinary Services Sarawak (DVSS) will hold the ‘Rabies in Borneo Conference 2022’ on Sept 27 and 28.

According to (DVSS) in a statement today, its director Dr Adrian Susin Ambud, who is also the event co-organiser, said the event would bring together international and local experts and practitioners to create a platform of knowledge exchange and a specific aim to unpack two approaches of rabies prevention through scientific (medical and veterinary) method and community participation.

“Our conference will include important topics such as Rabies in Asia, One Health Approach in Rabies Management, Public Awareness on Rabies, including Rabies Elimination: The Global Agenda, Bite Case Management, Enforcement & Licensing, and Rabies in Borneo: The Way Forward, Humane Capture Methods and much more,” he said.

Meanwhile, the chief executive officer of Place Borneo, Mona Manap, said they aim to highlight current issues and find effective solutions in line with the government’s goal to eradicate rabies in Sarawak through the event, which features local and international speakers.

“We are also lucky to have the support and knowledge sharing from our sponsors at Boehringer Ingelheim, Rhone Ma and Sarawak Veterinary Association,” she added.

DVSS has also successfully organised and will continue to run more anti-rabies and neutering programmes throughout the year to provide the public with easy access to anti-rabies vaccination, dog licensing, microchipping, and subsidised pet neutering services.

RIB 2022 is jointly organised by Place Borneo Sdn Bhd and DVSS and will be held at Imperial Hotel Kuching. — DayakDaily
