BAU, Jan 14: Sarawak Rivers Board (SRB) will have its own headquarters, which is likely to materialise this year.
In stating this, Deputy Minister of Transport (Maritime and Riverine) Dato Henry Harry Jinep said the ministry has identified the existing Marina building to be used as its headquarters.
“The State government has decided to take over the Marina building from the Federal government to be used as SRB headquarters, where the matter has been discussed with Minister of Transport (Anthony Loke).
“Valuation for the building has been done by the Land and Survey Department and at the moment, the State government is still in discussion with Federal government on how much we have to pay (to the Federal government),” he told reporters last night after officiating at the ‘Dayung Sikora’ (Beauty Pageant) competition at Association of Research and Development of Singai Sarawak (Redeems) centre, here.
According to him, Loke has given his commitment to speed up the process to be completed this year, adding that SRB at the moment was still renting for its headquarters.
He added that the meeting with Loke was also to request for allocation to clear ship wreckages within Sarawak waters.
Henry also a system as been put in place for SRB to detect any ships that are in Sarawak waters within a 1,000km radius. — DayakDaily
