KUCHING, Jan 13: Michael Kong, special assistance to Sarawak Democratic Action Party (DAP) chairman Chong Chieng Jen, has urged Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) to clear up rubbish pile along Lorong 5, Jalan Sungai Tapang.

He said during his visit to the area to attend to a public complaint on Jan 10, he had noticed the rubbish pile sitting on the side of the road at the intersection of Lorong 5 and Jalan Sungai Tapang.

“I have been informed by a local resident that this pile has been left unattended for more than a month.

“Till today, the rubbish pile is still left unattended by the relevant authorities,” he said in a statement today.

Already written to inform MPP, Kong urged for necessary actions to be taken as soon as possible to resolve this outstanding matter.

He emphasised that as the local council for 7th Mile, MPP plays a crucial role in ensuring high standards of cleanliness and public hygiene.

“It is important for the council and also the respective councilors to ensure that they perform their job properly,” he said. — DayakDaily
