KUCHING, Jan 13: Three students adopted by The Sarawak Initiatives (TSI), in collaboration with Lions Club Kuching North (LCKN) have been positively impacted in their studies and lives through the “Adopt A Student” project.

According to a press statement from TSI, students Albert Affleck Thomas and Brenda Kueh of SMK Kuching Town No. 1 as well as Aloysius Lim of SMK St Thomas have expressed gratitude to the organisations that they were able to thrive in their studies whilst their financial burdens were eased.

This follows a lunch meeting recently between the parties involved to follow up on the students’ progress. TSI was represented by its chairman Datuk John Tenewi, LCKN by its committee member Connie Yeo and secretary Wong Hiong Foo as well as the students.

The students were adopted by the organisations in February last year as part of efforts to champion education for the underprivileged with each receiving financial aid worth RM2,500 under the programme.

TSI added the collaborative effort between the organisation and LCKN was seen as a way to assist students from low-income groups to pay for school expenses.

The organisation said potential beneficiaries were identified by the respective school principals.
