Covid-19: Sarawak records 2,967 new cases, 13 cases in Category 3 to 5

KUCHING, Sept 29: Sarawak today reported 2,967 new Covid-19 cases — an increase of 26 per cent from 2,358 cases reported yesterday, according to the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC).

SDMC in a statement said 0.44 per cent or 13 cases out of the 2,967 cases reported were in Category 3, 4 and 5, meaning Covid-19 patients with lung infections, requiring oxygen support and required ventilator support.

The committee added 99.56 per cent or 2,954 cases were in Category 1 and 2, meaning asymptomatic Covid-19 patients and Covid-19 patients with mild symptoms.


With the additional 2,967 Covid-19 cases reported in Sarawak, the cumulative number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in the State has increased to 207,137.

Based on the distribution of cases in districts, Kuching has the highest number of new cases reported, with 759 cases.

This was followed by districts which reported triple-digits cases, such as Miri with 307 cases, Sibu (295), Serian (198), Bau (198), Betong (166), Bintulu (131) and Sri Aman (127).

The districts which reported double-digits cases include Samarahan with 83 cases, Sarikei (71), Saratok (63), Limbang (59), Pusa (55), Mukah (50), Belaga (50), Kapit (42), Lundu (35), Meradong (35), Lawas (33), Subis (18), Asajaya (18), Matu (18), Tatau (18), Tebedu (17), Simunjan (16), Lubok Antu (16), Marudi (14), Sebauh (13), Daro (12), Beluru (11) and Selangau (10).

The districts which witnessed single-digit case include Pakan with six cases, Telang Usan (6), Julau (5), Kanowit (5), Bukit Mabong (4), Song (2) and Dalat (1). — DayakDaily
