KUCHING, May 22: Sarawak registered one new Covid-19 case today, after eight days straight with no new cases of infections.
State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) informed in a statement today that the new case was recorded in Kuching District, bringing the total number of positive cases in the state to 545.
Only four districts in Sarawak are maintained in the yellow zone, which is with 40 or fewer Covid-19 cases, namely Kuching, Tebedu, Sibu and Serian.
In the past 14 days, Kuching registered three cases, Tebedu two cases while Sibu and Serian with one case each respectively.
There are still 69 patients being treated in hospitals but none admitted to Intensive Care Unit (ICU) or requiring respiratory support.
Sarawak also recorded four recoveries today, with three patients in Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) and one patient from Hospital Bintulu have recovered and discharged.
This means that as of today (May 22), 459, or about 84.22 per cent of the 545 Covid-19 patients in Sarawak have fully recovered from the virus.
Sarawak also registered 203 more person-under-investigation (PUI) cases today while 208 cases are still awaiting laboratory test results.
There are also 436 more person-under-surveillance (PUS) have been checked in to identified hotels to undergo compulsory 14-day quarantines.—DayakDaily
