KUCHING, July 17: The number of Covid-19 green zones in Sarawak is starting to increase slowly but steadily as Limbang joins Lawas and Daro as safe zones today.

State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) declared Limbang as the third Covid-19 safe zone in the State today, after recording zero local cases in the past 14 days.

Sarawak previously lost its last Covid-19 free stronghold, Telang Usan, after the district reported nine local cases on June 5, which saw it turned into a yellow zone.

Following that, Limbang and Daro have been interchanging their statuses between yellow and green back and forth for some time until the situation stabilised on June 22 when Daro stayed as a green zone up until this day.

Two days ago on July 15, Lawas was also converted into a green zone and now Limbang as well.

Meanwhile, there are still 21 red, four orange and 12 yellow zones in Sarawak. — DayakDaily
