KUCHING, Nov 2: Business premises at Wisma Saberkas here have been directed to temporarily close for two weeks following the emergence of Covid-19 cases there.

A notice from the Ministry of Health (MoH) said business premises located at the ground floor until the fifth floor were ordered to close from November 2 to 16 for sanitisation and cleaning purposes.

The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a press statement yesterday said there were three positive cases of Covid-19 arising from swab tests conducted to close contacts of a Covid-19 patient.

The committee revealed that they were close contacts to case 866 which was reported on October 30.

It added that one of the close contacts was a family member and the remaining two were close contacts at work.

At the same time, Minister for Local Government and Housing Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian in his Facebook posting last night said, “Because of active contact tracing and testing by (the) Department of Health Office Kuching to case 866 (telco shop in Wisma Saberkas) reported on 30 October, now her son and two shop assistants (are) also positive.

“School, families of positives need to be traced and tested.

“Understand that the other case reported today (yesterday) computer repair shop technician and the shop in Wisma Saberkas also.

“Waiting for the Health Department, Federal Government agency to advise on a new cluster,” he said.

In the meantime, it is believed that the State Health Department is conducting active case detection (ACD) at Wisma Saberkas to identify the close contacts involved. — DayakDaily
