KUCHING, Nov 2: Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) will be the next government for another five years, says Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Dr James Jemut Masing.

With much assertiveness, he said GPS and also his party, Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) are confident in retaining their seats in the upcoming Sarawak State Election (PRN12).

“Yes, we (GPS) are very confident and so is PRS. GPS will be the next government for the next five years,” he told reporters after the officiating ceremony of the International Engineering Centre (IntEC) building at The Isthmus here today.

When asked whether he has any plans to have extra seats for his party, the Baleh assemblyman said there are rules by the current government that he has to follow.

“I wish I could but the rule applies. The Chief Minister and GPS have their ways of doing things and I have to abide by it,” he said.

Meanwhile, he reiterated that PRN12 has to go on despite the Covid-19 pandemic.

“We shall carry on with the elections, it needs to be done. With or without Covid-19, the show must go on,” he added. — DayakDaily
