When the officers approached and identified themselves, the vehicle suddenly sped off, prompting a high-speed pursuit through Kampung Sindang and back toward Jalan Aiman Mall.

Despite repeated orders via loudspeaker for the suspect to stop, the vehicle continued to flee. Police backup was summoned from both the Kota Samarahan and Kuching District Police Headquarters (IPDs).

During the pursuit, the suspect’s car rammed a police vehicle, causing scratches and damage to the rear door.

The chase ended nearly an hour later in Lorong 6, Jalan Stampin Tengah, where the suspect abandoned the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot into nearby bushes, but was apprehended by officers.

The suspect, from Kampung Kelka in Simunjan, was found to have no illegal items on him, and checks revealed that the car was not reported stolen.

However, the suspect has a lengthy criminal history, including multiple house break-in cases and a record for drug abuse.

The suspect was taken to Kota Samarahan Police Station for further action. During the arrest, police reported that the suspect acted aggressively, prompting the use of minimal force. No injuries were reported.

The case is being investigated under Section 186 of the Penal Code for obstructing a public servant in the discharge of duties.

It was also revealed to the press that the suspect is possibly linked to recent housebreaking and theft cases, and further investigation is currently ongoing. — DayakDaily
