Cop arrest man for allegedly attempting to gun down his brother-in-law

MIRI, September 7: A 37-year-old man was arrested by police yesterday for allegedly attempting to kill his brother-in-law recently by using a homemade pump gun loaded with marbles.

The alleged incident reportedly happened in a longhouse in Batu Niah at about 5pm on August 23. The victim was not hurt in the incident.

According to sources, the victim was paying his two young children a visit when the suspect became enraged after learning that his brother-in-law had a quarrel with his wife 10 days earlier (August 13). He allegedly took out the gun and fired two shots at his brother-in-law.


Worried for his safety, the victim lodged a police report, and the suspect was picked up at Batu Niah Bazaar at about 11am yesterday. Police have also seized the gun allegedly used by the suspect.

The suspect is currently in police custody pending an investigation. — DayakDaily
