BETONG, Nov 19: Contractors appointed to deliver rural transformation projects (RTP) here were once again reminded to deliver according to the specifications and schedule or “ship out”.

Layar assemblyman Gerald Rentap Jabu emphasised that it was very important for contractors to ensure projects were implemented properly and on time because People’s Project involved a lot of money.

“This is so that those who were to benefit would benefit,” he said before attending a briefing on the RTP implementations for the Bukit Saban and Layar state constituencies held at the Betong Resident’s office here today.

Political secretary to the Chief Minister Dr Richard Rapu represented Deputy Chief Minister and Bukit Saban assemblyman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, who is currently taking leave to rest and recover following a minor medical procedure, at the function.

Gerald pointed out that there would be frustrations and dissatisfactions from those concerned if the contractors failed to deliver in time.

“As their elected representatives, we will be on the receiving end of their frustrations and anger.

“So my advice is please shape up or ship out.
“The government may resort to further action of blacklisting the errant ones,” he warned.

Gerald revealed that in some cases, there were contractors who refused to listen to suggestions from the people over the implementation.

“I hope both sides will be willing to compromise.
“If there are issues please bring them up to us or the Resident and District’s office,” he advised.

At the function, Gerald also presented grants totalling RM40,000 to four government departments here.
