KUCHING, Feb 7: The construction of additional car parks in the vicinity of Faith Methodist Church at Jalan Hup Kee, Kuching will be sped up to benefit churchgoers.
Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap Yau Sin said during a site visit recently, he had requested officers from Kuching South City Council (MBKS) as the appointed implementing agency, to gather input and suggestions from the church’s management committee including to speed up the preparation of the scope of works and bill of quantities for the project.
“This project, though small, is in line with the Sarawak Government’s inclusive policy which emphasise the importance of unity in diversity due to the country’s diverse racial and religious background,” he said in a statement today.
Yap also gave assurance that he is committed to assisting all non-Muslim and Muslim religious bodies in Kota Sentosa constituency that are in need of funds for various infrastructure needs through his yearly RTP funds, subject to them fulfilling the requirements.
The RM100,000 project is funded under Yap’s Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) 2023 fund after the church management board requested for an assistance to expand the car park as the existing car parks were not enough to cater to the congregation. — DayakDaily
