KUCHING, Oct 8: La Promenade Mall will host its third stand-up comedy show this year, featuring double headliners Andrew Netto and Keren Bala Devan, on Oct 28.
Andrew and Keren will bring their ‘Covindian’ tour to Kuching-Samarahan for one night only at the mall, which also hosted Mad Sabah in July and Kavin Jay in August.
Andrew and Keren are both veterans of the stand-up circuit in the region — Andrew has been performing since 2006, while Keren began his stand-up career 10 years ago.
The last time they performed in Kuching was in 2019, just before the pandemic.
According to Hock Seng Lee’s digital marketing and corporate communications manager, Sophia Ong, she first got to know the comedians from a Tatler magazine article in 2016.
“In 2019, I saw their ‘Angry Indians Live’ show in Kuching and had the best time. It was a sold-out show, it was so funny, and I’m so glad they’re coming to perform at La Promenade Mall,” she said.
Early bird tickets sell at just RM55 each before the price reverts to RM75.
Buy tickets online or at Black Bean Coffee and Tea La Promenade.
For the record, the East Malaysia leg of the Covindian show includes Kuching, Labuan, and Kota Kinabalu.
After concluding their shows here, both stand-ups have busy year-ends lined up.
Andrew will be part of the five-comedian show ‘Still Up, Still Coming’ at PJ Performing Arts Centre on Nov 4 and 5.
The show will include Kuah Jen Han and Phoon Chi Ho (of the famed MACC group), Rizal Van Geyzel (founder of the Crackhouse Comedy Club) and Kavin Jay (as seen on Netflix).
“Year-end is always a busy time for comics. I’m so pleased to have HSL present Andrew and Keren’s Covindian tour at La Promenade Mall. After such a long pandemic, it’s high time we all laugh together,” Ong said.
The mall’s food tenants will offer special promos for the upcoming show.
All of La Promenade’s stand-up shows have featured alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.
