KUCHING, Oct 14: A stepfather claimed trial to three charges of sexually assaulting his 9-year-old stepdaughter.
The 47-year-old accused, a civil servant, pleaded not guilty to all three charges framed under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 and punishable under Section 14 of the same Act.
Upon conviction, it carries a jail term of up to 20 years and whipping.
Sessions Court Judge Afidah Abdul Rahman then set November 14 for case management and ordered the accused to be further remanded.
The accused allegedly sexually assaulted his stepdaughter in a house at Matang twice, and once at a mangrove forest in Matang, between January to October 6, 2022.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Norshafitihah Nor Azmi prosecuted while the accused was unrepresented by counsel. — DayakDaily
