KUCHING, June 22: Cinemas, theatres and live events are allowed to resume beginning July 1, said Senior Minister (Safety Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
According to Ismail Sabri, the said activities will only be allowed in closed environments and indoor halls.
“However, SOP (standard operating procedure) must also be strict, including providing hand sanitiser, temperature checking, wearing facemask, and social distancing.
“The number of participants should not exceed 250 individuals for an event, which is subject to the size of the area where the event is organised,” he said in during a press conference on Covid-19 (non-health) development in Putrajaya, today.
Meanwhile, Ismail Sabri also noted that meetings, courses, and training sessions will also be allowed from July 1 onwards.
He said previously, the Registrar of Societies (ROS) has issued a circular informing that no activities are allowed for any organisation and association registered under them until June 31, 2020.
“ROS has the approval from the committee (Special Meeting) to allow for such activities to resume. This approval includes all organisations that are registered with ROS. Even the political parties may resume their annual general meetings (AGMs) too.
“Apart from that, companies registered under the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM) are also allowed to conduct meetings and other activities,” he added.
He noted that this approval includes bodies registered under the Cooperatives Commission of Malaysia (SKM), farmers’ associations, Parent-Teacher Associations (PIBG), youth associations, and sports associations that are registered under the Malaysia Sports Commissioner. — DayakDaily
