Chinese NGO produces video, encouraging public to stay at home during MCO

KUCHING, March 20: The Sarawak Federation of Chinese Associations has come up with a video to assist the government to make sure people are staying at home during the Movement Control Order (MCO).

Its president Datuk Richard Wee said the association’s IT section took two days to come up with the 1.08-minute video clip.

“It’s just a small part that we want to play to support the state government’s MCO campaign. We hope it will help inspire our people to stay at home during this period,” he told DayakDaily.

In light of the Covid-91 outbreak and restriction order nationwide, the association has provided electrical appliances for healthcare workers at the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH).

“We have distributed electrical appliances to the various wards at SGH for frontliners who work on a 24-hour shift. It’s just a small gesture to appreciate their contributions and sacrifices during this trying time,” he said.

Wee added that the association will distribute food to the healthcare workers starting next Monday (March 23).

The association might be looking at between 100-200 of these frontline healthcare workers at SGH, who would not have time to get food while on duty.

“If you wish to volunteer to assist in our Federation of Chinese Associations’ Disaster Relief Committee, please let me know and register yourself, so we can all come together to provide organisation and logistical planning and arrangement for food and meals for the frontline hospital medical personnel and other assistance for the crisis,” added Wee. — DayakDaily
