KUCHING, Sept 10: A cement truck driver died after his vehicle collided with a four-wheel-drive pickup in an accident along Jalan Datuk Stephen Yong this morning.
The state Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) in a statement revealed it received the emergency call at 11.04am that the 42-year-old driver was still trapped in his seat.
“The accident involved a cement truck and a four-wheel-drive vehicle. According to preliminary information obtained from the public, the truck driver was avoiding another vehicle but ended up in the opposite lane before it collided with the oncoming four-wheel-drive.”
The impact caused the truck to end up on its side while the pickup turned turtle.
Members of the public managed to extract the pickup driver who was then taken to a hospital by an ambulance.
With the help of special rescue tools, firefighters successfully extricated the trapped cement truck driver, who was later pronounced dead by medical officers at scene. — DayakDaily
