KUCHING, April 7: The 722 Walk Organising Committee has officially launched the “722 Logo Designing Competition”, in celebration of the 10th anniversary of July 22 being officially recognised as Sarawak Independence Day.
The competition aims to encourage greater public participation in the annual Sarawak Independence Day celebrations and to foster a deeper love and pride for the State.
The theme of the contest is tied to the historic 2016 declaration by the late Chief Minister Pehin Sri Adenan Satem (Tok Nan), who officially recognised July 22 as Sarawak Independence Day.
According to the organisers, all submitted designs must incorporate the colours black, red, and yellow, and must be provided in two sizes: one suitable for WhatsApp profile photos, and another for Facebook profile photos.
Winners will be awarded cash prizes, with RM500 for first place, RM300 for second place, and RM200 for third place.
The winners will be announced on May 8, 2025, and prizes will be presented during the Sarawak Independence Day celebrations at Tasik Biru Food Village on July 22, by Dr Bayang Teron, the sponsor of the prizes.
All entries must be submitted by April 30, 2025, either via WhatsApp to 013-8044178 or via email to agamideh55@gmail.com, addressed to Pak Duta.
The committee also stated that copyright of the top three winning designs will belong to them and that the judges’ decisions are final.

Organising chairman Francis James expressed his appreciation to Dr Bayang Teron for his generous support.
He also extended a call for donations to help sponsor key cultural performances during the 722 Sarawak Independence Day Cultural Parade, including the Lion Dance Troupe, Malay Kompang Troupe, and Bidayuh Gong Troupe.
Those wishing to contribute can contact Francis James at 016-4455971 or Anthony at 019-4864796 via WhatsApp.
“This is a meaningful celebration not just of our history, but also of our shared Sarawakian identity. We hope the public will participate enthusiastically,” Francis added. – DayakDaily
