KUCHING, March 5: AirBorneo, Sarawak’s first state-owned airline, has launched a Logo and Livery Design Competition, offering the public a once-in-a-lifetime chance to be part of history by showcasing their creative ideas in shaping the visual identity of Sarawak’s new pride in aviation.
The competition follows the overwhelming enthusiasm shown by Sarawakians on social media after the announcement of AirBorneo’s establishment.
Designs celebrating Sarawak’s rich cultural heritage and natural beauty have already captured the imagination of many.
Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, expressed his excitement about this public engagement initiative.
“I’ve seen netizens sharing their creative livery designs on social media, and I must say, all the designs are beautiful and inspiring. To tap into this enthusiasm, we will create a competition to find the best livery designs for AirBorneo,” he enthused.
The Premier emphasised that this competition reflects Sarawak’s commitment to fostering community involvement in shaping the airline’s identity while showcasing the State’s unique heritage and forward-thinking vision.
Datuk Amar Haji Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, Sarawak State Secretary who is also chairman of AirBorneo, highlighted the importance of this initiative.
“AirBorneo is not just an airline; it is a symbol of Sarawak’s aspirations and unity. Through this competition, we aim to incorporate the creativity and passion of our people into our brand. We encourage everyone to participate and make their mark on history,” he said.
The competition will include two categories: logo design and aircraft livery design.
Participants are encouraged to incorporate elements that reflect Sarawak’s vibrant culture, heritage, biodiversity, eco-friendly values, connectivity and spirit of AirBorneo. Winning designs will receive special appreciation and handsome prizes from the organiser.
Details about submission guidelines and deadlines will be released soon by the Unit Komunikasi Awam Sarawak (UKAS). This is an opportunity to showcase talent and contribute to an exciting chapter in the Sarawak’s aviation history.
