MIRI, May 25: Seventy-two families from four longhouses who are participants of the SLDB Oil Palm plantation in Bukit Kisi, Sibuti, today received dividends totalling RM504,000.

Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas officiated at the presentation of mock cheques to four longhouse chiefs representing the participants from Rumah Busang Braoh, Rumah Christina Gan, Rumah Midul Sewi and Rumah Jumat Aji.

In his speech, Uggah urged the recipients to use their dividends well, not to spend too much on their Gawai celebration and to save a major portion of it for future use.

“Saving in your Amanah Saham Bumiputera is a wise option as you can enjoy the dividend and bonus later,” he said.

Uggah, meanwhile, reminded the people that the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government under the leadership of Chief Minister Abang Johari Tun Openg was always listening to grouses and problems on the ground.

Present at the function were Sibuti MP Lukanisman Awang Sauni, Lambir assemblyman Ripin Lamat and a political secretary to the chief minister, Thomas Romeo Christopher Tegong. — DayakDaily
