MIRI, May 7: Bruce Chai has resigned from Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB), including his post as chairman for the party’s Pujut branch and all other positions, effective May 6, 2022.

“My resignation letter to the party president and secretary-general has also been duly submitted,” he said in a statement issued today.

As a founding member of PSB, Chai added that it was a difficult decision to make, but it was the honourable thing to do.

“Having been given the duty to lead a political branch and failed, I must take full responsibility for this failure.

“Even though PSB had given me great support and guidance over the seven years, I had still failed to secure satisfactory results in the 12th Sarawak Election, having stood and lost as a candidate for PSB in the N74 Pujut seat.

“That said, I would still like to thank all the voters that had braved the Covid-19 pandemic and came out to vote for PSB and other candidates,” he said.

However, he added that his resignation from PSB does not mean that he will stop contributing back to the community.

“My focus will be to make Miri a better place as a social activist. The only difference is that I won’t be conducting my activities via a political platform.

“This may be a blessing as hopefully my contributions will be accepted better from a neutral perspective,” Chai said.

He said he would utilise social media platforms such as WhatsApp and Facebook and continue to ‘turun padang’ (be on the ground) through community activities.

“There is still a lot to be done to ‘make Miri great again’, and I pledge my fullest commitment to do my best to assist anyone to the best of my ability and means.

“Volunteerism and social work have always been my passion. Therefore, it is only natural for me to want to continue this work,” he said. — DayakDaily
