Miri, Feb 22: Villagers discovered a body of a woman aged 20 entangled in a fishing net, early this morning in Sungai Niah.
According to Batu Niah Fire and Rescue Station in a report, the woman has been identified as a resident of Rumah Boniface Bada, Sungai Senga, Tanjung Baru, Suai Niah.
The report stated that the firefighters received a call from longhouse chief, Edward Chai, on the discovery which was made adjacent to his longhouses at 7.10am.
Acting on the call received, a team of firefighters from Batu Niah Fire and Rescue Station was mobilised to the scene located about 54km from the station.
However, no operation was carried out, as the villagers had removed the body from the river while awaiting the arrival of the firefighters.
The body was then sent to Rumah Boniface Bada. — DayakDaily
