Body of missing fisherman found near Pulau Lakei

The remains being carried onto a truck to be sent to Sarawak General Hospital.

KUCHING, April 20: The body of a man who was reported missing after his fishing boat capsized was found near Pulau Lakei this morning.

The man was reported missing after his hands slipped from a life jacket he was clinging on to with two friends after the boat sank. His friends were found safe and rescued two days ago (April 18).

The missing man was found on the west side of Pulau Lakei by a fisherman around 8.05am.

His remains were retrieved and transported to the Kpg Bako jetty around 9.30am where they were identified by his family members. The deceased was later sent to Sarawak General Hospital for further action.

Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (APMM) First Admiral Robert Teh expressed his appreciation for the help from various parties and communities during the search and rescue operation and hope that the cooperation will continue in the future.
