K9 unit deployed to search for missing fisherman in Telaga Air

KUCHING, April 19: The search and rescue (SAR) operation for a 64-year-old fisherman who was reported missing continues with a K9 unit deployed to aid the sixth day of operations today.

The victim, Mohammed Ehwan @ Ikhwan Mohammed from Kpg Trombol in Telaga Air, was reported missing by his family members when he failed to return home from his usual fishing trip on April 14.

According to family members, Ehwan did not use his boat to fish this time. Instead, he had gone fishing from the riverbank below bridge number 4 along Sungai Loba Batu.


He was last seen wearing a black shirt and white shorts.

A SAR operation was immediately launched by Fire and Rescue (Bomba) Department.

In a statement, the Bomba operations centre revealed the team used ‘water surface’ search methods in the SAR operation within a 3km radius from upstream towards downstream and where the victim was last seen.
