KUCHING, April 20: Unlicensed hawkers and petty traders operating within areas of Padawan Municipal Council (MPP)’s jurisdiction are able to apply for the special grants provided by the state government.

MPP chairman Lo Khere Chiang in a statement revealed they need to download an application form from the councilā€™s website at https://mpp.sarawak.gov.my.

The form is for unlicensed hawkers and petty traders who wish to apply for a temporary permit from MPP.

ā€œThe permit is a pre-requisite for them to apply for the Sarawakku Sayang Assistance Package 2.0 which was announced by the Sarawak Government.

ā€œUnlicensed hawkers and traders may also refer to the criteria or conditions to check if they qualify for this aid and how to apply for this aid.

ā€œThis assistance will provide special financial aid of RM1,500 to the hawkers and petty traders who are registered with the local authorities,ā€ Lo pointed out.

For licensed hawkers and petty traders with MPP, they only have to register with Sarawak Pay and the special aid will be remitted to them at a later date.

In the meantime, Lo who is Batu Kitang assemblyman, lauded the state government for giving the special RM1,500 grant to hawkers and petty traders under the Sarawakku Sayang Assistance Package 2.0.

He believed the financial assistance will go a long way in reducing their financial burden during the Movement Control Order (MCO), describing such assistance as timely to help small scale traders tide over difficult times.

He noted these traders have complied with the MCO by not carrying out business in order to curb the spread of Covid-19.

For any enquiries, the public is urged to contact MPPā€™s Licensing Section at 082-615566 extension 135/282/130 during office hours. ā€” DayakDaily
