MIRI, March 4: The body of a missing angler was discovered 24 hours after his fibre boat sank near Niah National Park yesterday.
The body was found 50 metres from where his boat had capsized, at around 3.20pm today (March 4).
The man, 70, from Miri, was reported missing after his fibre boat capsized yesterday morning (March 3).
He was alone at the time fishing for prawns when the incident happened.
A search and rescue operation was immediately launched by the authorities, comprising firefighters from Batu Niah Station and Miri Civil Defence Force personnel.
The search and rescue team had been combing the area for hours before finally discovering the body.
The deceased’s remains were recovered and taken to Miri Hospital morgue for a post-mortem. — DayakDaily
