Boat capsizes, missing man’s body recovered by search and rescue team

KUCHING, Dec 11: The Search and Rescue (SAR) operation for a missing 25-year old man in Nanga Tengadak, Katibas Song, ended after his body was found today.

Sarawak Fire and Rescue (Bomba) department in a statement, said Wilson Anak Rimba’s body was found by the search party at 12.15 pm.

“The body was found by the SAR teams about 500 meters from the area of where his boat was found to have capsized yesterday. The deceased’s body was later handed over to the police for further action, and the operation ended at 12.15 pm” it said.


According to the statement, a missing person report was filed by the deceased’s uncle at Song police station, after the victim’s boat was found capsized by local villagers at Ulu Mukut river, last night.

After being informed about the incident, Song fire station responded to the location on the same day with a team of eight firefighters led by PPgB Rashid Songli.

“However, the SAR operation could not be conducted yesterday, due to the weather and the distance of the incident’s location which takes about three-hour to reach.

“The SAR operation was carried out this morning, and joined by the police and local villagers searching around a two-kilometer radius area from where the capsized boat was found,” it said. – DayakDaily
