KUCHING, Nov 4: Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture (Motac) Dato Seri Tiong King Sing welcomes public feedback on his ‘drinking behaviour’ as alleged by former Works Minister Dato Seri Mohd Zin Mohamed.

Tiong, in a Facebook post today, also challenged Mohd Zin and others to present evidence rather than spread baseless rumours.

“This includes whether my behaviour is considered decent. I am open to feedback from all members of the public, and I will continue to approach the community with humility and serve the people.

“I always bear in mind that it is their trust and support that make me where I am now,” he said.

Tiong was responding to Mohd Zin’s remarks recently criticising his behaviour as ‘indecent’.

According to Tiong, also Bintulu MP, whether it’s the Gawai festival or the Mid-Autumn Festival, he tries to get immersed in the community, including joining the children in Pelangai in joyful dances.

He pointed out that they were thrilled, expressing that it was the first time a minister of his stature had bonded with them in such a way.

“What was once a delightful experience is now being sensationalised for political gain. Are we trying to broadcast to the world that Malaysia is a country overly divided and sensitive to religious matters?

“I will leave it to the public to judge me on whether I can bring in the tourist numbers, not how much of an extremist I am. I will look after everyone, especially Sarawak,” he added.

On Oct 31, Tiong addressed criticism levelled against him for his participation in alcohol consumption and dancing during a festival celebration. — DayakDaily
